Ruby - A kind spirited Lady. Who had a big heart and was our great neighbor for many years. A farmer yes, She excelled in her job.

The first time I saw Ruby was in Uncle George Murry"s cotton patch. It was a big field of cotton and had a herd of cotton pickers all lined up to start our day of picking and pulling our burdens up and down the long rows. However there was Ruby and Ward, already picking, each with two rows each and each with the longest cotton sack that i had ever seen. We started picking and were a little over half way down our rows when we met Ruby and Ward coming back, picking two more rows each. I was in awe then, and still am! The cotton was flying into their oversized sacks. You didn't need a cotton picker, if you had Ruby and Ward.
The last time I saw Ruby, she sat with my sisters and I on the back porch. She had retired from the cotton patches and was having the time of her life, traveling with her friend. She was all dressed up and was going to dinner later, she just stopped by to visit with us. We laughed, rocked, and told tales of yesteryear over our cold glass of ice tea. I thought that day, what a kindness you felt ,sitting and talking with this farm girl. She spoke with Motherly Love of you her children, Her daughter and her grandchildren, the fun things that they had done and were doing. And her two sons and how they cared for all of the family. She loved all of you so. When a breeze blows against your cheek on a hot summers day, that will be Ruby still tending to all of you, her "Youngins"

When you have a neighbor like Ruby what else do you need. We my sisters and I will miss her checking on us. God Bless all of you. Margaret, Eula, Shirley, Janice, Gerald
