My thoughts and prayers are with Amanda and Neal's uncles and particularly Jack who I spoke with about a week ago. I grew up with Neal from the age of thirteen to about twenty two. Neal and Diane E. were both in our wedding in '76. I took many trips to the farm with Neal to ride dirt bikes and to visit with Mr. Lee, Doug Wilson, Kathy, Cindy, Miss Ethel, Jack Woods. They all treated my like a part of the family and we had some really good times down on the farm. On Friday nights Neal and I would roll into the farm at midnight or later and no matter how tired we were we would jump in that old Army Jeep, go get Doug and go for an adventurous ride down into the swamp. We would sometimes get back just before daylight and I can remember it was all we could do to keep our eyes open. We did that same regimen many times. Miss Ethel, Doug's mom, use to always feed us like kings down there and Vera would always tell us not to go down there to eat because she had too many mouths to feed down there. We would sneak down there anyway and spent many hilarious evenings at Miss Ethel's kitchen table joking around and cutting up with Cindy and Kathy, Doug's sisters. You just won't believe how much fun we had. Looking back I am really glad I had the opportunity to meet Neal's family and Doug's family and to do all of the things we use to do down there. I will miss Neal just like you all will but I will still have the memories. God bless you all.

To Neal's family,
I just heard the news of Neal's passing and was shocked and saddened. He was a special part of my life and I have a lot of fond memories of him, the Woods family and the farm. My deepest sympathies are with the entire family at this time.
Love, Diane

To Neal's Family,
Neal was a special "friend" to the Cathedral Flower Guild. When we started the Flower Guild in 2008, we needed help with various projects. To this day, many of our large floral installations are possible because of Neal's creativity and craftsmanship. We still use the items he made for the Cathedral. For example: He designed & made the large wooden frames for the side altars; made the wooden "step extensions" to hold the large Easter urns; the custom wooden boxes to level the ladders so they would be stable, and he had a special "gunk" that he used to fix any leaks in our floral containers. Cute story: One afternoon Neal and I drove to Austell in the CTK pickup, with three pairs of old iron candelabras in the back. We were taking the candelabras to be sandblasted & powder-coated. The CTK pick up was not very reliable. I watched as the fuel gauge bounced around "empty". Neal indicated we might get some gas. I was nervous. I asked Neal if he had ever run out of gas. Neal paused, looked at me and replied "many times." I knew it was hopeless to get him to stop for gas, so kept quiet. In the end, he was right. We made it back to the church just fine.
The Cathedral Flower Guild will always remember Neal for his help and willingness to help us try new things. He was an amazing person. We are sorry for his family and he will be missed.
Sincerely,
Linda Seitz (on behalf of the Cathedral Flower Guild)

How he will be missed! There was nothing Neal couldn't repair, re-purpose or restore.
He was a fine craftsman, a friend and a good soul.
Many prayers to you, Amanda, and to your family.
