James Mobley Obituary

Nobles Funeral Home and Crematory announces the funeral services for Mr. James Ernest Mobley, age 74, who passed away Monday, December 21, 2020 in Spartanburg, SC after a brief illness. Mr. Mobley was a native and lifelong resident of Appling County. He was a retired farmer, heavy equipment operator, a United States Army Veteran and was currently employed with M &M Industrial.

 

Mr. Mobley was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Opaline McDaniel Mobley; his parents, Earl “Buddy” Mobley Sr. and Willie Lee Mobley; and three sisters, Charleye Coleman, Odessa Washam, and Elois Rogers.

 

Surviving are two daughters, Miranda Taylor (Brooks) of Baxley, Melanie Griffis (Michael) of Brunswick; two brothers, Earl Mobley Jr. (Shirley), and Eddie Mobley (Brenda) all of Baxley; one sister, Mary Baxley (Ray) of Baxley; two grandchildren, Marli McLellan and Case Griffis; and a host of loving nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral Services will be held Monday, December 28, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. from the Chapel of Nobles Funeral Home and Crematory with the Reverend Bill Stone and the Reverend Wayne Williamson officiating.

 

The family receive friends two hours prior to services on Monday.

 

Interment will follow in the Friendship Congregational Christian Church Cemetery.

 

Active Pallbearers will be Chris Baxley, Jason Baxley, Russell Auldridge, Patrick Spell, Shaver Lightsey, Mike McDaniel, Kevin Hunter and Ryker McDaniel.

 

Honorary Pallbearers will be Donnie Head, Roger Smiley, Jimmie Knight, Farris Dyal, Joe and Penny Eason, Brenda Nail, Mike and Suzanne Deal, Henry Jones, Mark and Carol Barnes, employees of M & M Industrial, members of Friendship Congregational Christian Church, past and current pulling members of Baxley Mini Pullers, employees of Barnes Pharmacy and all-in attendance.

 

The family requests that attendees follow all COVID-19 guidelines.
