Tommy Dent

Nobles Funeral Home and Crematory announces the death of Thomas Vernon (Tommy) Dent who died of an extended illness on August 17, 2017, at the age of 70, under the loving care of Ogeechee Area Hospice in Statesboro, GA.  He attended Georgia Military Academy in Atlanta on a football scholarship and settled in Statesboro to raise his family.  He became Statesboro's first full time Fire Chief, an instructor with the Georgia Fire Academy in Marietta, a business owner, and Account Representative in Atlanta.  He was a Devoted husband of 50 years and loving father to 3 children.

 He is survived by his wife Sharon Donahue Dent, daughter Kellie Dent Oglesby(Chuck), twin sons Kevin(Monica) & Page Dent, grandson Cole Dent, granddaughter Hillary Dent, great grandson Wesley Dent, mother Josephine Sykes Dent, sister Gail Dent Hoover, brother Jerry Dent, and several nieces & nephews.

 He was Preceded in death by his father Vernon Dent. 

At his request, a private Memorial Service will be held with interment at Pinecrest Cemetery in Jesup, Ga.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ogeechee Area Hospice, 200 Donehoo St, Statesboro, GA.30458.
