David Vaughn Obituary

 

Nobles Funeral Home and Crematory announces the passing of David William Vaughn, of 157 Clifton Road in Baxley, passed away Thursday morning January 17, 2019. He was 71.

 

Vaughn was a native of Baxley, born and raised in South Georgia and the product of Appling County Schools, where he was a multi-sport letterman. Following school, he served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany during the Vietnam conflict.

 

Professionally, Vaughn retired from AT&T in Atlanta following a career that spanned more than 30 years. He returned home to Baxley four years ago as a retiree from AT&T.

 

Vaughn was an accomplished amateur golfer and frequent participant in sponsored events of the United States Golf Association. He also enjoyed shooting pool, telling jokes and stories, and enjoying fellowship with his friends and family, often at Waffle House or over lima beans and rice.

 

Vaughn is survived by his wife Teresa Vaughn, son Johnny Vaughn, daughter Lisa Vaughn and Grandson Tyler DuBose. In addition, his surviving siblings include: his sister Peggy Middleton (Carl), sister-in-law Ettie Mae Vaughn, brother Raymond Vaughn (Patsy), sister Betty Sue Boatright (Ed), brother Sherwood Vaughn (Jane), brother Roger Vaughn, sister Joyce Stover (Dorsey), sister Bobby Johnson (Carroll), and sister Reba McCloud (Howard).

 

Vaughn was preceded in death by his father Paul Vaughn and his mother Beatrice Arnold Vaughn, as well as his brother Thurmon Vaughn.

 

Those who knew him best described him as a simple man who loved his family deeply and lived life fully.

 

In accordance of Mr. Vaughn’s wishes no service will be held at this time.
