Norma Jean Orvin

Miles – Nobles Funeral Home and Crematory announces the funeral services for Norma Jean Orvin, age 75, who passed away Thursday, April 21, 2016 at Appling Healthcare Systems. She was a native and lifelong resident of Appling County, a retired substitute teacher with the Appling County School System and a member of Red Oak Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Orvin; parents, Reverend Doris Black and Myrtice Crosby Black and Bonnie Black; two sisters, Evelyn Turner and Judy Lynch.

Surviving is her husband, Bobby Surrency of Baxley; two daughters, Lanita and Greg Hand of Alma and Joella and Alan Stalvey of Baxley; two sons, Wade and Sherry Orvin and Roger and Karen Orvin both of Baxley; eight grandchildren, Callie Hand, Carrie Hand, Carlie Hand, Ashley Stalvey, Amanda Stalvey, Enga Bedgood, Ashley Reliford and T.J. Holton; one great grandchild, Ethan Orvin; four sisters, Brenda Nail, Betty and Curtis Taylor, Elaine and Greg Edwards and Ellen Black all of Baxley; three brothers, Eddie and Elwanda Black of Orange Park, FL, David and Sue Black of Baxley and Dewayne and Marcia Black of Oklahoma; numerous nieces, nephews and other family also survive.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 24, 2016 at 3 p.m. from the Red Oak Baptist Church with the Reverends Rick Brown, Denny Waters and Daniel Harris officiating.

A eulogy will be given by her son-in-law Alan Stalvey.

Mrs. Orvin will lie-in-state one hour prior to services on Sunday.

Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held Saturday, April 23, 2016 from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Active Pallbearers will be Greg Edwards, Jarrett Williams, Mitch Williams, Steve Smith, Lamar Deen and Rodney Williams.

Honorary Pallbearers will be all friends in attendance.
