James C. VanNess

Miles~Nobles Funeral Home and Crematory announces the services for James C. VanNess, age 78, who passed away Sunday, July 17, 2016 at The Oaks Bethany in Vidalia.  He was a native of Staunton, Indiana living in Baxley for the past 38 years.  He was retired after 31 years as a service technician with IBM and owner and operator of #1 Satellite and TV for 19 years.  He attended Calvary Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Anna Katherine VanNess; a daughter, Terri Jean VanNess; a grandson, Joshua Shorter and a brother, Terry Wayne Jones.

Survivors include by his wife, Ginger VanNess of Baxley; two sons, Jimmy VanNess of Columbus, Indiana and Darin VanNess of Indiana; one daughter, Vicki Shorter and husband Mark of Brazil, Indiana; five adopted children, Darin, Kayla, Jacob, Emily and Shane; one stepson, David Maze; five grandchildren, Chelsie Tootle, Taylor Maze, Daniel Maze, Jonathan Shorter and Jessica Jenkins; ten great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and other family also survive.

Memorial services will be held Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at 11am at Calvary Baptist Church with the Reverend Roger LaRoche officiating.
