Elizabeth (Wells) Greene

Nobles Funeral Home and Crematory announces the services for Elizabeth Wells Greene, age 74, who passed away Monday, December 11, 2017 at Wayne Memorial Hospital under the care of Hospice of South Georgia.  She was a retired educator with the Wayne County and Long County school systems and a three-time recipient of the STAR Teacher Award. Mrs. Greene was a graduate of Georgia Southern College and a member of the Jesup First United Methodist Church and the Odum Garden Club.  She enjoyed spending her time with her grandchildren, traveling, birding and genealogy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Eleanor Zorn Wells; father in-law, Robert Greene, sister in-law, Faye Chappell and brother in-law, Grigsby Chappell.

Survivors include her three sons, Joel Greene and wife Karla of Hoboken, Ian Greene and wife Elaine and Sean Greene and wife Ashley both of Odum; three grandchildren, Ellie Greene, Will Greene and Rob Greene; mother in-law, Evelyn Greene.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at 1pm at Altamaha Baptist Church with the Reverend Jack Lee and Reverend Stanley Todd officiating.

Private interment will be held in the Odum City Cemetery.

The family will receive friends following the funeral service in the church social hall with light refreshments.

Active Pallbearers will be Shane Poppell, Brian Nipper, Aron Daniels, Michael Lewis, Jerry McDaniel and Fred Reddish.

Honorary pallbearers will be Betty Sue Spinner, Mary Ann Griffis, Karen Smith, Sandra Harrington, Caroline Raines, Martha and Cliff Gilmer, Toni Ray, Zet Grey, Stan Cartwright, Marissa Lewis, Harbor View nurses and staff, Hospice of South Georgia nurses and staff and Wayne Memorial Hospital nurses and staff.
