David Allen Pickren Sr.

Miles – Nobles Funeral Home and Crematory announces the services of David Allen Pickren Sr., age 83, who passed away Friday, September 16, 2016 at the Tri - Star Hendersonville Hospital in Hendersonville TN. He was a native of Appling County; a 1st Class Petty Officer serving in the United States Navy during the Korean War; a member of the Masonic Lodge since 1967; a Shriner and a member of Friendship Congregational Christian Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sandy Pickren; parents, R.B. and Bonnie Smiley; brother, Don Smiley and a grandson, Daniel Pickren.

Surviving are his children, Al and wife Erika Pickren of Buena Vista and Lin and husband Tim Buchanan of Cottontown, TN; four grandchildren, Bryn and wife Darby Lopes, A.J. and wife Melissa Pickren, Dustin Pickren and Jessica Pickren; five great-grandchildren, Kyler Lopes, Logan Pickren, Savannah Pickren, Britton Lopes and Bristol Lopes; two brothers, Roger and wife Carolyn Smiley and Ashley and wife Danice Smiley; one sister, Marsha and husband Talmadge Varnadore and other family also survive.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 20, 2016 from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Friendship Congregational Christian Church with the Reverend Fred Anderson officiating.

Entombment will follow in the Friendship Church Cemetery with military honors.

Active Pallbearers will be, Al Pickren, Tim Buchanan, Ashley Smiley, Roger Smiley, Bryn Lopes and Dustin Pickren.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children at shrinershq.org.

The family will be gathering at the home of Mr. Pickren at 1496 County Farm Rd.
